The NZSBA actively seeks membership from anyone who has an interest in breeding or owning standardbreds. During the 2011/12 season the NZSBA and our three affiliates started the Golden Girls sereis for fillies and mares with 24 new races; made a submission on the Flavell pokies legislation; regionally have run a number of mares series and we are proud of our annual Cup Eve function where we celebrate the successes of our breeders. Membership is only $89.95 for the year. Join us and join in!
Members are the heart of our association, therefore we do many things to provide recognition for their breeding achievements.
- Cup Eve Function
- Group race trophies
- Awards - Broodmare of Excellence; regional awards; national awards
- Member statistics in Breeding Matters
The Executive and staff at the NZSBA have worked hard to build positive and strong working relationships with HRNZ, NZRB, Clubs and other kindred bodies. We have representatives on the following Boards or committees
- HRNZ Breeders Liaison
- NZ Equine Health Association
- NZ Equine Research Foundation
- Primary ITO
NZSBA members get ample opportunities to socialise and network with other members. Our regional affiliates all hold a variety of social functions throughout the year.
The pinnacle event for the NZSBA is the annual Cup Eve Function held the night before the NZ cup. This night is all about the breeder and we celebrate thier successes.
We produce two quality publications free of charge. The hugely popular NZ Register of Standardbred Sires is released annually at the end of August, beginning of September. Demand for this publication is strong, NZSBA members get priority delivery.
Breeding Matters is a quarterly publication that covers a wide range of topics and is available in print form and via the web.
Each year we work with a select number of companies to provide members with extra benefits or discounts. Some of the organisations we work with are:
JLT - NRM - Harness Racing Weekly - Lone Star - Super Liquor - Racing Cubs
Our publications, this website, E-newsletters and experienced committee members have a wealth of information to share with our members.
We have produced fact-sheets on a variety of subjects (click here to view) and continue to work with other organisations to get information out to our members.
